The part of self-care nobody taught you.

Intimate hygiene for men is treated like a taboo in India — so most guys are left guessing. This is the honest, judgement-free version: how your skin actually works, why the products you're using are wrong, and what to do instead.

The four things to understand

Get these, and the product makes total sense.

01

Skin has a pH — and yours is acidic

Healthy skin sits at a mildly acidic pH of around 4.5–5.5. This 'acid mantle' is a thin protective film that keeps moisture in and unwanted bacteria out. Intimate skin is thinner and more sensitive than the rest of your body, so it depends on that balance even more.

02

Soap is the opposite of that

Most bar soaps and body washes are alkaline — often pH 9 or 10. Every wash temporarily strips the acid mantle, leaving skin dry, tight and more reactive. Do it daily to a sensitive area and you get itching, flaking and the odour you were trying to remove coming back stronger.

03

Fragrance masks, it doesn't clean

Heavy perfume is added to make a product 'feel' clean. On sensitive skin it's a common irritant. Genuine freshness comes from a balanced formula that respects the skin — not from a stronger scent fighting the smell.

04

Men's bodies make this harder

Sweat glands are dense in the groin. Add heat, tight underwear, friction from movement, and hours at the gym — and you create exactly the warm, damp environment where odour and irritation thrive. This isn't a hygiene failure; it's biology that needs the right tool.

Do this

  • +Use a pH-balanced, soap-free intimate wash once daily
  • +Clean the external area gently — skin, not scrub
  • +Rinse thoroughly and pat (don't rub) dry
  • +Wear breathable cotton; change after workouts
  • +Trim, keep dry, and let the area breathe

Not this

  • Don't use bar soap, body wash or shampoo down there
  • Don't over-wash — twice a day max for most men
  • Don't use heavily perfumed or deodorant products
  • Don't scrub or use hot water that strips skin
  • Don't ignore persistent itching — see a doctor

The athlete's hygiene problem nobody talks about

“Just use water” and 6 other myths, debunked

Water alone won't shift oils and sweat residue. Over-washing with soap is just as bad. The truth sits in the middle — and it's simple once you know it.
